ABOUT US
Walker Welders began in the 60’s in the Mississippi Delta; however, in the mid 70’s Jimmy Walker Sr. saw the need for a self-contained oxy/acetylene unit. The Mississippi Delta was and is an agrarian market and farmers have good and bad years. This self contained cart would allow Jimmy Walker, Sr. to have a vehicle that was recession proof. After being unable to find manufacturers to produce his cart, Walker began acquiring equipment from local auctions. He bought an abandoned school and converted it into a factory outgrowing it quickly. Next, he purchased a larger facility thinking we had plenty of space–we added on five times. Our next move was to our current facility.
Today, Saf-T-Cart has expanded to produce cylinder carts, cages, pallets, truck beds, and trailers, and employs over 100 people in its everyday manufacturing operation. Saf-T-Cart sells to all 50 states, Canada, Latin America and beyond. With the acquisition of National Metal Products in 2000, Saf-T-Cart has over 60 years in the industry and we are constantly developing new innovations which change the way cylinder transportation is accomplished in the packaged gas industry. In 2017 we added Carolina Piping Services to our family which proved to be a complement to our business model. Saf-T-Cart’s growth can only be attributed to the loyalty and dedication from our customer base, which remains our primary focus to this day.
